WV Family Magazine Recognized As a Leading Parenting Publication - March 2011
On March 5, 2011, WV Family Magazine received the Silver Award for General Excellence during the Parenting Publications of America Editorial and Design Award Competition banquet in Arlington, VA . This is a top award, which is competitive and features many excellent entries from around the country. The General Excellence Award reflects both editorial and design, including: reporting and writing standards, as well as visual presentation. West Virginia Family Magazine has won previous multiple awards for editorial excellence and for its service to WV families and communities.

This quarterly family magazine includes articles and news on health, safety, and education, as well as special directories and guides such as the Annual Summer Camp Directory, Parks and Museums Directory, Back–to-School Guide and Directory, and the Family Health Directory. WV Family Magazine is distributed for free with over 30,000 readers and at over 350 locations across Central and North Central WV. WVFM Publisher Honored with the Community Service Award by Glenville State College -

Publisher of West Virginia Family Magazine, Carla Cosner was recognized by Glenville State College at the 2011 Annual Alumni Banquet for her devoted service to Central (and North Central) West Virginia through the writing, publication, and distribution of West Virginia Family Magazine. The annual banquet took place on April 16, 2011. Mrs. Cosner was introduced by Alumni Julie Yearego and presented the award by President of GSC Alumni Association, William S. Deel. Other awards were presented that evening as well. The presentation of the Alumni Awards was preceeded by a buffet dinner and other Alumni Day events which took place on the GSC campus.
WV Family Magazine Receives National Award for “Safe Teen Driving Series” March 2010
For the second year in a row, West Virginia Family Magazine is nationally recognized with an award in Editorial Excellence. West Virginia Family Magazine is distributed for free into twelve counties across North Central West Virginia. West Virginia Family Magazine is published quarterly and provides local West Virginia families with articles, tips, and news on health, safety, education, entertainment, travel, local services, community events, and more.
Parenting Publications of America (PPA) is a nonprofit national organization representing more than 110 family and parenting magazines in the United States, Canada, and Australia. The organization upholds high standards of journalism and editorial excellence. The PPA Annual Convention was held March 3-6, 2010 in Charlotte, North Carolina to recognize members meeting the high standards and for the service they provide to their community. A panel of judges reviewed 1,026 entries to choose the winners in each category. West Virginia Family Magazine won the Bronze Award in the Special Series category for their 2009 “Safe Teen Driving Series” – a year long feature for parents and teens which provided the latest information, tips, and statistics. This award follows last year’s Bronze Award for the 2008 “Going to College Series” and Gold Award for the “Kids’ Pages”.

North Central West Virginia's only comprehensive summer camp and program directory will be available in our Spring 2010 issue. Over 40 quality summer camps and programs listed. This directory is much anticipated by readers because it gives a listing of programs with descriptions, all in an eas-to-read directory including contact information for each camp or program. This directory offers day camps, resident (overnight) camps, summer reading programs, classes, and workshops - to meet any interest your child may have, from sports and the arts, to horseback riding, fishing, or conservation interest camps - we have many types to fit many interest. "Winner of Parenting Publications of American Online Reader Survey Giveaway Announced" - October 2009
In addition to local winners that were previously announced by West Virginia Family Magazine for the Online Reader Survey, Parenting Publications of America offered a national incentive consisting of a drawing for a $1,000 Gift Card Giveaway. Readers of all member publications across United States, in Canada, and Australia were eligible upon completing the survey about their local publication. The winner of the national incentive was Rachel Roth from the Atlanta Parent reader's market. Congratulations Rachel!
"West Virginia Family Magazine announces Winners of Reader Survey Prizes" - September 2009
West Virginia Family Magazine wishes to thank all the participants in the Parenting Publications of America national reader survey. Readers went online to complete a short survey about WV Family Magazine. Two winners were chosen at random. Renee Mathews of Clarksburg won the 2 night Summer Family Get-Away for four people to Canaan Valley Resort. Pat Ellis of Bridgeport won the Family Rafting adventure on the New River for four people from River Expeditions. Thank you to everyone who participated!

West Virginia Family Magazine won multiple awards in Editorial Excellence during the Parenting Publications of America (PPA) Annual Convention which took place in late February. Carla Cosner, of Buckhannon, is the publisher/editor of West Virginia Family Magazine. This family magazine is distributed for free into communities across North Central West Virginia – including Morgantown, Fairmont, Clarksburg, Bridgeport, West Union, Grafton, Philippi, Elkins, Buckhannon, Weston, Glenville, and surrounding areas. WV Family Magazine is published bi-monthly. and provides local West Virginia families with articles, tips, and news on health, safety, education, entertainment, travel, local services, community events, and more.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, Parenting Publications of America is a nonprofit national organization representing more than 120 parenting magazines and newspapers in the United States, Canada, and Australia. The organization upholds high standards of journalism and editorial excellence. The PPA Annual Convention was held February 26-28, 2009 in New Orleans to recognize members meeting the high standards and for their service to the community. A panel of judges reviewed 1,020 entries to choose the winners in each category. WV Family Magazine received multiple awards in Editorial Excellence including the Gold Award for Special Section Within the Publication for their “Kids’ Pages”. Judges’ comments include –“A powerful section filled with quizzes and puzzles, craft ideas and reading suggestions is perfect for children to enjoy on their own, or for parents and children to work on together.” West Virginia Family Magazine also won the Bronze Award in the Special Series category for their 2008 “Going to College Series” – a year long feature which provided information and tips for parents and students about preparing for college.
